Cushing's Disease and Diabetes in Senior Dogs

If your dog is suddenly drinking more than they ever have or they don’t have the same control over their bladder as they used to, they might not be doing it just to make extra housework for you or because a particular rug is not to their taste, it may be related to a metabolic disorder.

Cushing’s disease and diabetes are examples of metabolic disorders that may cause inappropriate urination and excessive drinking in your pet. Both conditions can make your pooch more susceptible to a variety of different diseases such as urinary tract infections to name one! While they can both present in a similar fashion, they have different causes and it’s important that we properly diagnose them so we can appropriately treat them. Testing is through simple blood tests that can be done in one of our clinics.
